Li Liao

Dr. Liao is the Dean, Chair Professor of Finance of PBC School of Finance,Tsinghua University. He is also a Dean of Tsinghua University Institute for Fintech Research, Director of Tsinghua Fintech Lab and Sunshine Research Center for Financial Innovation, Yangtze River Scholar Distinguished Professor given by the Ministry of Education (2015), and the Chief Editor of Tsinghua Financial Review. Liao earned his B.S. and Ph.D. from Tsinghua University and a MBA degree from MIT.

Liao’s main research field is the Internet Finance and Corporate Finance. Liao has taught a wide range of courses for graduate students, such as Internet finance, corporate finance, enterprise value assessment, and venture capital theory and practice. Liao also took charge of Tsinghua-Harvard Joint Training Project of private equity funds and venture capital, and Liao was awarded the first Sun Yefang Prize for Financial Innovation and the Excellent Teaching Award of Tsinghua University.

Liao’s many research projects are supported by the major project of National Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science, the major project of National Natural Science Foundation of China. Besides that, Liao’s researches are also commissioned by the National Development and Reform Commission, Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Education and other institutions. He is the author of more than 60 peer-reviewed journal articles. The journals include Journal of Financial Economics, Financial Management, Journal of Futures Market, Economic Research Journal (in Chinese), Journal of Financial Research (in Chinese), and Management world (in Chinese). He was the author of Global Fintech Business Models Landscape and Development, Direct Banking: American Practice and Comparison with China (in Chinese), Split-Share Structure Reform and China Capital Markets (in Chinese), Seeking Wisdom Tour (in Chinese). He was also Chinese translator of Irrational Exuberance (Written by Robert J. Shiller.) and Active Portfolio Management: A Quantitative Approach for Producing Superior Returns and Controlling Risk (Written by Richard Grinold and Ronald Kahn).
