Zhiwei Xu

Zhiwei Xu, Professor of Economics at the School of Economics and China Center for Economic Studies, Fudan University, obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from the Department of Economics at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His research interests primarily revolve around China's macroeconomics, macrofinance, monetary policy, and economic fluctuations. He has led several significant projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China's Excellent Youth Fund and the National Natural Science Foundation of China's Youth Fund. His research achievements have been recognized as ESI highly cited papers and have garnered numerous accolades, such as the First Prize of the 7th National Outstanding Fiscal Theory Research Results, the 2016 Pu Shan World Economics Youth Paper Award, the 2022 China Information Economics Society Innovation Achievement Award, the 2020 China Information Economics Society Outstanding Achievement Award, the 2020 Jiangsu Province Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement Second Prize, and the 2018 Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement Second Prize. His major papers have been published in leading domestic and international journals, including the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, Economic Journal, Economic Theory, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, Review of Economic Dynamics, Regional Science and Urban Economics, Quantitative Economics, Economic Research Journal, Journal of World Economics and Politics, and Economic Quarterly. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for China and World Economy, Economic Modelling, Economic Quarterly, and Journal of Finance Quarterly. He is also a key initiator and organizer of the "Economic Fluctuations and Growth" macroeconomic academic conference.
